Justice Initiative) Shelby County Government – 3.6 Memphis, TN Job Details Full-time $3,805.41 – $4,970.83 a month 1 day ago Qualifications Writing skills Mid-level 3 years Bachelor’s degree Full Job Description Position Summary Works under the supervision of the Deputy Administrator – Behavioral Health Services to coordinate recovery services and aid program participants with a severe and persistent mental illness while transitioning from the criminal justice system back into the community.

Pay Grade:

51 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications 1. Three (3) years of experience in the field of mental health or a closely related field; AND 2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, sociology, criminal justice, psychology or closely related field; OR 3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience. 4.

PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Develops relationships with local criminal justice system, community services & mental health providers. 2. Develops community resources and coordinates existing services for adults with mental illnesses who are incarcerated in Shelby County jails or at risk of incarceration. 3. Identifies screens and assesses persons with a mental illness & facilitates continuity of care while incarcerated or awaiting pending charges. 4. Develop individual Community Linkage Plans that include recommended treatment and services to address the level of need for program participants. 5. Collaborates with client and family members to work towards the attainment of recovery goals and to avoid further contact with the criminal justice system, hospitals, or crisis services. 6. Collaborates with partnering agencies and community supports in promoting the well-being of participants who are justice involved and diagnosed with a mental illness or co-occurring disorder. 7. Conduct individual case monitoring services at least once weekly to monitor the progress and compliance towards recommended treatment and services. 8. Submit status reports to court officials regarding the progress of program participants. 9. Performs other related duties as required or directed. KSAs 1. Thorough knowledge of mental health systems, procedures, and provider agencies to assist the mentally ill. 2. Ability to work with mental health professionals to develop transition plans for clients. 3. Thorough knowledge of the criminal justice system. 4. Ability to secure and coordinate resources of the agencies associated with the provision of services. 5. Ability to establish and maintain a system of records. 6. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations. 7. Ability to collaborate with other departments and service providers. 8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
