Position Summary:
The CMC Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing and maintaining the progress of CMC projects. The CMC PM is responsible for the direction, coordination, delegation, implementation, and timely completion of CMC projects. The types of projects included will be determined by leadership but may include technical, clinical, financial, or operational projects including process improvement and capital projects. The CMC PM will work within their role to delegate necessary tasks during projects as needed and keep track of the delegated task’s progress. The CMC PM will promote compliance throughout CMC via contract initiating, organization, and renewal statuses.
Project manager will work with internal stakeholders and external clients to define the project needs and create a process to bring it to fruition. This includes setting and managing client expectations, developing a detailed project plan, defining the scope of the project and assigning team members to specific tasks. The project manager also anticipates delays that may occur on the organization or client side and apprises the team of any changes in the organization or client’s needs. Organization and follow-through are a big part of a project manager’s position. Creating accurate timelines of project completion to ensure tasks are finished within the confines of the assignment, the project manager must remain aware of how the project is progressing. Must be able to keep open and honest communication and form working relationships.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics, Healthcare Management, Project Management, or related field required.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years’ healthcare or business experience required.
A minimum of two (2) years of IS project management experience required.
Experience with a variety of clinical software systems in healthcare setting preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years of specific Cerner experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Project Management Professional (PMP)Certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent certification preferred.
Special Skills and Knowledge:
Verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
Ability to determine and delegate project tasks to the responsible employee, maintain progress status of employee.
Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support in organization wide programs.
Strong knowledge of project processes, quality control, costs, and other opportunities for maximizing project success
Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and overall project efficiency.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing colleagues, allied health professionals, physicians, department heads, and members of executive leadership required.
