JOB DESCRIPTION
Did you know that hearing loss is the most common birth defect in newborn infants? In fact, early screening, diagnosis, and treatment can help children with hearing loss develop speech, language, and social skills. As a Newborn Hearing Screening Technician, you will help support and provide families with valuable information about their babies hearing screen results. We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our dynamic team in the Newborn Nursery/NICU at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Wellington, FL. In this position, you will work on-site performing state mandated hearing screens on newborns. This part time position will enable the right person to work up to 20 hours per week including weekends and holidays. Our program operates 7 days a week 365 days a year, and schedules are provided a month in advance. The hourly wage for this position is $17/hr.

Paid Time Off:
Envision Healthcare offers paid time off, 9 observed holidays and paid family leave. You accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) each pay period and depending on your position and can earn a minimum of 20 days and up to 25 days per calendar year. Please note, this is a part time position that is not benefit eligible and does not offer paid time off.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Verify patient information prior to performing hearing screening Obtain and document consent from parent/guardian
Perform newborn hearing screening on all infants using AABR technology in the nursery and NICU prior to discharge from the hospital and provide screening results to parents/guardians
Answer general questions and inquiries as well as provide written information to the parents/guardians regarding the hearing screen procedures, results, and next steps
The technician will give the parent(s)/legal guardian a copy of the result form and place the original copy in the infant’s medical record
The technician will keep the supervisor informed of operational issues requiring immediate intervention
Interact and develop relationships with hospital personnel to ensure effective level of communication
The technician will adhere to all HIPAA, PHI and OSHA guidelines
Performs clerical duties as assigned
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on program needs, including weekdays, weekends, and holiday shifts, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 1 or more years of healthcare related experience preferred
