Job Description

Histotechnologist II Job Description The main function of a Histotechnologist II is to perform complex medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role requires significant attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic laboratory environment. Responsibilities Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results. Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction. Cultivate, isolate, and assist in identifying microbial organisms. Perform various tests on microorganisms. Conduct clinical trials of pharmaceuticals. Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers. Perform microtomy, embedding, and histology processes. Conduct technical grossing procedures to process and submit specimens for microscopic review under the supervision of pathologists. Operate and maintain automated tissue processors and embedding units. Operate and maintain H&E stainers, IHC stainers, special stains stainers, and cover slipping units. Perform manual cover slipping and provide recut preparation for microtomy and slide organization. Perform quality control on completed cases. Maintain logbooks and be familiar with the location of stored specimens. Locate and pull specimens from various departments as requested. Handle chemical reagents such as reagent alcohols, Xylene, Alcohols, and Formaldehyde. Perform safety checks in the lab. Handle minute patient tissue samples. Essential Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Knowledge of techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases. Understanding of Good Clinical Practice and local regulations. Ability to analyze data and accurately document results. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate’s degree in medical technology or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of relevant experience required. Experience in microtomy and embedding required. Eligible for rehire. Wednesday•Sunday 4am•12:30pm & 3rd

Shift:

Tuesday•Saturday 8pm•4:30am.
