We have an immediate need for a Mohs Technician which will include Mohs histology procedures, tracking of all submitted Mohs specimens for processing and diagnosis, as well as the necessary recording of Quality Assurance and Quality Control for the Mohs Lab.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist dermatologists during Mohs micrographic surgery by preparing and processing skin specimens. Is responsible for specimen handling, storage preservation, and identification; freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a cryostat; staining and placing tissue on slides, manual coverslipping and prepping reagents. Is responsible for the disposal of stains and the upkeep of the work area. Keeps equipment operational by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns. Updates OSHA and CLIA records. Maintains patient identification. Documents in EMR as appropriate. Troubleshooting issues with fellow technicians and resolving any problems by examining and evaluating data; and selecting appropriate corrective steps. Perform quality control checks and maintain detailed records of specimens and procedures. Conforms to all applicable HIPAA and safety guidelines. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma at least, previous certificate of completion for training in Mohs preferred Previous experience processing tissue in a Mohs Lab setting Knowledge of proper functions and troubleshooting of Leica or Avantik cryostats Must be able to travel any clinics performing Mohs within brand hired for Strong knowledge of histology and tissue processing techniques. Exceptional communication skills and a patient-centered approach. Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed. Ability to analyze and interpret information, ability to interact and decipher information telephonically and electronically.
