You will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking for long term employment and growth. Candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and dedicated. Experience in dermatology is helpful but not necessary. Modernizing Medicine & EZDERM experience is a plus. Histotechnologist Responsibilities & Duties Ascension specimens Process and prepare tissue samples for examination Receiving, grossing, and fixing tissue samples from various sources Embed tissues in paraffin for sectioning Cut thin sections of tissue for microscopic examination Stain tissue samples using various techniques to enhance visibility under a microscope Mount tissues on glass slides for analysis Perform quality control checks on prepared samples Ensure accuracy and adherence to laboratory standards Maintain and calibrating laboratory equipment Document all procedures and maintaining accurate records Recording information about specimens in laboratory information systems Create laboratory protocols Follow laboratory safety protocols and procedures Assist pathologists with special staining techniques Manage laboratory supplies and inventory Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment like microtomes, tissue processors, and automated staining machines Participate in laboratory continuing education and training programs Maintain certification of lab – ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards. - Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Florida License
- Experience with immunohistochemistry techniques
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems
- Advanced knowledge of tissue processing and embedding
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail-oriented and high degree of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology or related field
- At least 1-2 years of experience in histotechnology
