Insight Global Health is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Histology Tech to join a healthcare provider’s team in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of laboratory equipment and testing procedures to ensure quality control checks are consistently monitored. They should be well-versed in medical terminology to effectively communicate with laboratory staff and have a strong grasp of safety requirements to provide clear instructions and identify and rectify hazardous conditions. Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation is essential, along with the ability to use various computer programs and applications. The candidate must demonstrate excellent listening, reading, and comprehension skills to follow both oral and written instructions accurately. Expertise in performing a full range of laboratory tests and operating diverse laboratory instrumentation and equipment is crucial. Clear and concise communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, vendors, clients, and external agencies. The candidate should also have strong problem-solving abilities and specific knowledge of Immunohistochemistry. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for preparing sections of human tissue for microscopic examination and patient diagnosis, using techniques to gross, embed, section, stain, and mount samples from surgical procedures. They will perform recuts and additional stains, including special and immunohistochemistry stains, as requested by a Pathologist. The role involves operating computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate tissue specimens with wax for preservation and study by Pathologists. The candidate may also label requisitions, specimen containers, cassettes, and slides, and affix coverslips to slides. Maintaining laboratory equipment and tracking all routine maintenance and quality controls performed is essential. The candidate will file, retrieve, and distribute blocks, slides, and pathology reports, and operate, clean, and sterilize laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments, and workstations. Proper disposal of hazardous chemical waste by regulatory guidelines is required. The candidate must maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all State, Federal, and professional regulations, as well as company and departmental rules, policies, and procedural manuals. Adherence between CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety, and OSHA Regulations is mandatory. The candidate will also perform other duties as assigned.
