Position Summary The Research Associate I, Histology role, reporting to Principal Scientist & Group Lead, involves performing essential histological procedures, including tissue preparation, processing, and sectioning for microscopic examination. Responsibilities include producing high-quality microscopy slides, conducting various staining techniques, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The candidate will ensure compliance with established protocols and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the role requires organizing lab areas, managing supplies, and adhering to safety regulations to support a well-functioning laboratory environment. This on-site role will be based in Morrisville, NC, and requires a Monday to Friday work schedule. Job Responsibilities Perform routine histological procedures for FFPE and cryo samples to include tissue trimming, sample processing, embedding, and sectioning High quality microscopy slide production for microscopic examination by a pathologist or investigator Perform routine histological staining Perform manual and automated IHC staining Equipment maintenance Maintain accurate records with Good Documentation Practices Comply with established SOPs, established laboratory procedures and policies. Ensure lab areas are well organized, and supplies are available, and safety protocols are followed. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field required preferred with basic laboratory experience HT or HTL certification preferred, or willingness to obtain the certification within 1 year of employment Pipetting, Reagent Prep, Lab Documentation, and Good Laboratory Practices experience Basic histology experience, and cryo-sectioning/microtomy experience on cryostat/sliding microtome Preferred Experience and Skills Experience in routine histology. Experience in histological and immunohistochemical staining. Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the willingness to work in a team-based deadline-driven atmosphere. Ability to multitask among multiple projects and teams and work independently in a fast-paced, highly interactive environment. Self-motivated, organized, capable of working independently and in a collaborative environment. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally. Good judgment and innovation to achieve a solution within standard procedures.
