Job Title:
Histology Technologist Job Description Prepare histologic slides from human tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a Pathologist. Utilize specialized techniques to gross, embed, section, stain, and mount tissue from surgical procedures. Responsibilities Prepare sections of human tissue for microscopic examination and patient diagnosis. Perform recuts and additional stains including special and immunohistochemistry stains as requested by a Pathologist. Operate computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax, tissue specimens for preservation. Label requisitions, specimen containers, cassettes, and slides; affix coverslip to slides. Maintain laboratory equipment and track all routine maintenance and quality controls. File, retrieve, and distribute blocks, slides, and pathology reports. Comply with all State, Federal, professional regulations, and company policies. Ensure adherence to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety, and OSHA Regulations. Essential Skills Proficiency in tissue culture, histology, stain blocking, microtomy, grossing, embedding, and pathology. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate’s Degree in the field of Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Chemistry preferred. Prior experience with preparing slides. Work Environment This is a diagnostic laboratory facility with a growing and expanding team.
