Contract Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histology Technician to join a high-performing surgical pathology team for a 30-week contract assignment in New York, NY. This role is ideal for professionals with strong technical expertise in histology, particularly in biopsy and dermatological specimens, who thrive in a fast-paced, overnight lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process biopsy and dermatologic specimens for histological examination Perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide mounting with precision Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with safety protocols Maintain accurate records and ensure timely documentation Communicate effectively with pathology staff and other lab personnel Support lab workflow and ensure high-quality slide preparation in compliance with standards
Qualifications:
2-3 years of hands-on experience in histology, specifically with biopsy and dermatology specimens Proven technical competency in histology procedures Proficient in laboratory protocols; computer literacy preferred Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
Education & Licensure:
Associate’s Degree in Science and completion of an accredited Histology program (required) OR Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience (required) One of the following New York State licenses is required : Clinical Laboratory Technologist Certified Histology Technician Clinical Laboratory Technician (issued by NYSED)
