Direct Support Professional 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Montgomery, AL 36117 Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home or community setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires a strong commitment to resident rights and the ability to work collaboratively with families and other care providers. Duties Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, and dressing. Monitor patients’ health conditions through regular observation and reporting any changes. Assist clients with mobility, including lifting and transferring as necessary. Support individuals in engaging in community activities and social interactions. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Advocate for residents’ rights and promote their dignity and independence. Administer prescribed medications appropriately. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients. Document daily activities, observations, and any incidents per organizational policies. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and patient observation practices. Familiarity with working with people who have developmental disabilities is a plus. Understanding of resident rights and the importance of advocacy in care settings. Ability to lift clients safely using proper techniques. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
