In this role, you will provide essential support to patients, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. You will work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in various settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and urgent care centers. Responsibilities Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating. Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. Provide basic life support when necessary and respond to emergency situations promptly. Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to hygiene protocols. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their needs and concerns while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support behavioral health initiatives by recognizing changes in patient behavior and reporting them to nursing staff. Assist in the transportation of patients within the facility as needed. Utilize medical terminology accurately when documenting patient information and communicating with the healthcare team. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans tailored to individual patient needs. Skills Strong knowledge of anatomy to understand patient needs effectively. Proficient in patient care techniques that promote comfort and recovery. Familiarity with medical terminology essential for effective communication within the healthcare environment. Understanding of behavioral health principles to support mental well-being in patients. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times. Experience or knowledge of hospital medicine practices is beneficial. Familiarity with urgent care protocols can enhance patient support during critical situations. Experience in long-term care settings is advantageous for providing comprehensive support to residents. Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) usage can assist in enhancing patient mobility and comfort.
