Job Description

Surgical Patient Care Assistant – PRN – Days 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 1200 Memorial Drive, Dalton, GA 30722 JOB SUMMARY Provides for cleaning and maintenance of the ORs between procedures, includes removal of all waste material, replacing used items with clean. Transportation of Surgical patients to the surgical suite from the patient care unit. Providing delivery service of supplies and specimens. Assists nursing staff by assisting with moving patients from stretcher to OR bed. Holds patients limbs for prepping under the guidance of the RN. Performs procedures at the direction of the RN. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient being served. Prepares, assembles, and maintains anesthesia equipment; contributes to the monitoring and testing of anesthesia equipment to ensure proper operation. Maintains and insures availability of all supplies necessary to provide care.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of Nursing Assistant training program preferred.

Licensure :
N/A, BLS

required within 90 days of hire.

Experience:

Minimum of six months experience in health care facility required.

Skills:

Manual dexterity to assemble equipment. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients needs that are age appropriate to the age group of patient served.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in a typical surgical environment subject to exposure to hazards found in surgical areas including anesthetic agents, radiation, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Requires full range of body motion including lifting, pushing and pulling equipment over 20 pounds. Requires standing and walking for most of the shift. Requires working under stressful conditions, and the ability to adapt to rapid turn over of patient census and changing conditions. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
