Full Job Description Position Summary:
Direct Support Professional is a staff who assists an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community, assists with activities of daily living if needed, and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. A Direct Support Professional may provide supports to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places. A Direct Support Professional also acts as an advocate for an individual with a disability in communicating their needs, self-expression and goals. Dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are needed for overnight and weekend shifts. The Overnight & Weekend DSP provides assistance, supervision, and guidance to individuals in a home setting. This role requires the person to remain awake throughout the shift to ensure the well-being and safety of the individuals served, provide support with daily routines, and contribute to a clean and safe environment.

Shift Details:
Overnight shifts, including weekends (Specific hours may vary) This is an awake position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring all equipment is in safe and operable condition. Participate in all training and orientation sessions as directed. Ensure paperwork is completed and turned in timely, neatly, and accurately. Implement and document program plans, behavior management plans, and activity schedules. Responsible to provide care to the consumer as it pertains to the “Plan of Care” Assist in the formulating of Service Plans/Plans of Care, etc. for each consumer in his/her charge, documenting progress or significant problems Advocate for services to enhance consumer’s life. Follow all policies and procedures of the Arc of St. Charles. Review and comply with Consumer Handbook procedures. Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned by Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct support and hands-on assistance to individuals with daily living activities, such as hygiene, meal preparation, and medication reminders. Assist individuals with their overnight and morning routines. Ensure the health and safety of individuals, monitoring their well-being throughout the night. Complete assigned cleaning duties and tasks within the home. Assist with the dispensing and recording of medications, if required. Maintain a positive and supportive environment, promoting independence and personal growth.
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job as described in the essential duties and responsibilities sections including; walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, sitting, reaching overhead and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to safely lift, transport, and transfer consumers, which may include but not be limited to lifting and transferring in and out of a vehicle, bed or wheelchair, as appropriate and needed to assist with the individual’s assisted daily living skills.
Minimum Qualifications :
Valid Louisiana Driver’s License Auto Insurance in your name Social Security Card Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and complete specialized forms
Pass Screenings:
Drug, Background, and Driving Record High School diploma or GED. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. First Aid Certification-Class available upon hire. 16hr State Approved Medication Administration Training- Class available upon hire.
