Job Description
Our Resident Care Assistants (RCAs) play an important role in the dailylife of our residents. Whether it’s help getting ready for the day, atmealtime, or bedtime, our longstanding team is ready to make sure eachour residents enjoy the opportunities that living at our facilitypresents each day. The primary purpose of this position is to provideeach of the assigned residents with routine daily care by assisting withdirect resident care duties and indirect resident care duties, asdirected by the charge nurse, and/or certified nursing assistants.
- RCAs start at $16.
00 an hour, enroll into a CNA program and rateincreases to $18.00 once certified as a CNA. Next, we will pay your waythrough an LPN program or Associate-level RN program.
Essential JobFunctions:
- Assist residents in dressing and personal hygiene.
- Assist CNA’s with residents requiring 2-staff transfer except inmechanical transfers.
- Make occupied bed.
- Assist in obtainingweights.
- Provide full or partial bed bath.
- Perform incontinent carein bed to residents who can move in bed.
- Assist residents who are noton swallowing or aspiration risk with meals.
- Pass, set up, and collecttrays.
- Place belongings within resident?s reach (call light, glasses,TV remote, glasses, etc.)
- Answers call bells in a timely manner.
- Make unoccupied bed.
- Empty commodes and urinals.
- Transport residentsto the dining room for meals.
- Accompanying residents on outsideappointments as needed.
- Visit with residents providing 1:1 supportiveinteraction (i.e., read their mail, newspapers, or books to them,transport them for visits outdoors when within residents? care plan,transport to activities, transport to hairdresser, help to writeletters, make telephone calls, etc.)
- Assist residents in communicationinvolving technology (zoom, face time, skype, google meet, etc.).
- Assist with monitoring residents to maintain safety providing 1:1supervision as needed.
- Organize, straighten, and clean closets anddressers (i.e., clothes hung neatly on hangers in closet, folded neatlyin drawers, trash and soiled laundry removed.)
- Ensure personal careitems are put away and stocked (check with Team Leaders or Nurse Managerfor appropriate stock.)
- Gather supplies need for provisions of care,passing out linens.
- Pass out drinks to independent residents who arenot at risk for impaired swallowing/aspiration, check residents’ drinksat bedside and verbally encourage residents to drink.
- Reportresident’s intake to Team Leaders.
- Offer the resident nourishmentsand/or distribute nourishments from the dietary department.
- Check fallprecautions: bed monitor, mats, and personal alarms. Check and cleandirty wheelchairs after each meal or after incontinent episode.
- Checkand clean tub and shower room.
- Greet newly admitted residents uponadmission, escort to room as necessary, receive paperwork from referringagency, and inform Unit Manager/Charge Nurse of arrival.
- Assist withinventory of new admissions.
- Assist in arranging for and makingappointments for diagnostic therapeutic services.
- Direct visitors toresidents’ rooms, office areas, etc.
- Photocopy and fax per the needsof the unit.
