Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The DSP assists individuals in achieving their personal goals, fostering independence, and participating in community activities. This role involves direct interaction with individuals in their homes and community settings.

Key Responsibilities:
Support Independence:

Encourage and support individuals in making decisions, developing skills, and participating in activities that promote independence.

Community Integration:

Accompany and assist individuals in community activities, employment, and social events, promoting inclusion and participation.

Health & Safety:

Monitor and ensure the health and safety of individuals by following care plans and reporting any health concerns to supervisors.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided, including daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes.

Advocacy:

Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals, ensuring they have a voice in decisions affecting their lives.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and team members, fostering a supportive and respectful environment.

Training & Development:

Participate in ongoing training to stay informed about best practices in supporting individuals with IDD.

Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience working with individuals with IDD is preferred but not required.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, empathy, and a commitment to providing high-quality support.

Requirements:

Ability to pass a background check, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.

Work is performed in various settings, including individual homes, community locations,

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and as needed.

Mileage:

Mileage is included in the hourly rate and will not be paid separately.
