General Summary:

The Home Care Assistant-Universal Aide is accountable for the delivery of quality home care services to the program’s participants in conjunction with physician’s directions, company and industry standards, and insurance guidelines as assigned by a registered nurse. The Home Care Assistant is supervised by a licensed nurse to deliver quality home care services to the patients. Universal Aides work under the supervision of the Home Care RN and Health Care Coordinator (RN) and under the indirect supervision of the Director of Activities. The Universal Aide will provide and assist participants of Carolina SeniorCare with activities of daily living, restorative, and supportive care. Assists with organization and implementation of activity program. Monitors health status and provides a safe environment for participants. Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact. Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation. 3.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent/ Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A). Requirements of C.N.A are current license as Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of North Carolina required, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of experience in working with the frail or elderly population required.

Competency:

Position specific competencies for the Certified Nursing Assistant will be met prior to assuming participant care.
