Peer Support Specialist Growth Wellness & Change Center 1914 J N Pease Place, Charlotte, NC 28262 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to individuals facing various challenges related to mental health and behavioral issues. This role focuses on enhancing clients’ recovery journey through individualized support and community engagements. The Certified Peer Support Specialist will work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that clients receive the best possible care and support. Duties Provide individualized guidance, coaching, and support to individuals Assist in developing formal and informal community supports Support individuals in expanding social networks of family, friends, and significant others Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and treatment plans in compliance with organizational policies. Advocate for individuals to protect their rights and reduce stigma Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field. Participate in agency staff meetings, case conferences, and supervision Engage in ongoing staff training and development Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining client confidentiality. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records.
Experience:
Lived experience of mental health or substance use recovery Understanding of recovery principles for mental health or addiction challenges Prior experience in a service-oriented field is beneficial Certification Requirements Peer Support must be delivered by individuals who: Are Certified Peer Support Specialists in North Carolina Self-identify as having lived experience of mental illness or substance use disorder as defined by federal guidelines Are well established in their recovery and currently stable Hold a High School Diploma or GED Are supervised by a Qualified Professional (QP) Cannot be a family member of the individual receiving Peer Support services If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity as a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
