DSP Duke’s Helping Hands LLC Somers Point, NJ 08244 Overview The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, ensuring they lead fulfilling and independent lives. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual who can work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes and home care environments. The DSP will facilitate daily activities, promote personal growth, and enhance the quality of life for those they serve. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks. Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals. Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment. Monitor and document clients’ health status, including vital signs when necessary. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans tailored to each individual’s needs. Engage clients in recreational activities and community involvement to enhance their social skills. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Transportation when required. Assist with Advocating at appointments if needed. Creating an activity Calendar Daily Documentation Experience Previous experience in home health, long-term care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. Familiarity with patient care practices, including the ability to take vital signs. Experience in cooking and preparing meals suitable for dietary needs is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care. Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors with patience. Must be Familiar with
