We are hiring Direct Support Professionals for Full-Time, Part-Time, and On-Call Residential positions! Daytime, Evening, and Overnight positions are available.

SUMMARY Under general supervision, a DSP is responsible for devoting his/her attention to the care and development of the people we support in one of the Agency’s residential or day program facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional will include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides exceptional care and assists with the personal development and improvement of the lives of the people we support. Ensures that all measures for safety and well-being are maintained at the highest level. Provides training in activities of daily living and in the development of self-help and social skills. Maintains a personalized, home-like atmosphere in the residential environment. Responds to crisis situations and medical emergencies, including accidents by taking quick and decisive action. Ensures actions are conducted in a manner that prevents abuse, and reports observations of co-workers who may be abusive in accordance with established procedures. Administers appropriate first-aid based on visible symptoms and medical history in accordance with established guidelines and accepted first-aid practices. Summons police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency personnel if the situation warrants it. If an emergency has caused any of the people we support to exhibit behavior that is threatening or dangerous, staff are asked to provide strategies for crisis intervention in accordance with OPWDD approved Behavior Management guidelines. Provides transportation for the people we support in agency vehicles to and from work, shopping, programs, restaurants, movies, doctor’s appointments, etc. Attends weekly staff meetings as well as any other assigned meetings and in-service training. Prepares concise written reports including Incident Reports, Residents’ Progress Notes, and other reports as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED is
REQUIRED
(proof of education required in onboarding) Valid NYS Driver’s License is
PREFERRED
Prior DSP, Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant experience is a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, concerns or complaints from employees and customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Full-Time, Part-Time, On-Call Day/Evening/Overnight positions available!
PAY RANGE
$16.49 – $19.06/hour (varies based on position offered) + $1,500 SIGN-ON
