Direct Support Professional (DSP) Greater Hearts Human Services (GHHS) Lancaster, PA Greater Hearts Human Services is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make meaningful contributions in the lives of individuals with IDD! Full-time block shifts with paid sleep hours!
Direct Support Professional Job Responsibilities:
Provide direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) such as assisting with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Perform home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, cooking and cleaning. Create meal plans, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up. Accompany clients to scheduled appointments and transport clients to other locations as needed. Remind and assist individuals with self-administration of medications (Medication training will be provided). Encourage self-help activities such as social, exercise, cooking, etc. Foster and build positive relationships between caretakers and individuals. Maintain a safe environment to ensure the individuals safety. Document and report to administrators and supervisors of any changes in an individual’s condition or behaviors. Complete reporting of services provided, logs, and other pertinent information. Contribute and participate in the implementation of the individuals support plan. Other duties as assigned. Must provide your own transportation Must pass background checks Ability to work in a group home, home-like settings Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent 18 years of age or older Valid driver’s license
