Direct Support Professional Geriatric Care solutions 909 East Pitman Avenue, Wentzville, MO 63385 Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves assisting clients in daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. The DSP will work closely with clients to foster a safe and supportive environment while respecting their rights and dignity. Responsibilities Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing. Provide support in daily living activities such as meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication administration. Engage clients in social activities and community outings to enhance their social skills and promote inclusion. Monitor clients’ physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and preferences. Ensure the rights of residents are upheld and respected at all times. Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any incidents that occur during shifts. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance caregiving skills. Qualifications Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as memory care, hospice care, or patient care is preferred. Knowledge of medication administration protocols is a plus. Certification in CPR or First Aid is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members. Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others achieve their highest level of independence. Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for clients’ needs. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by client schedules. This role is essential for enhancing the quality of life for individuals receiving support services while fostering an environment of respect and dignity.
