Direct Support Professionals provide valuable, supportive quality-based support for people with intellectual, emotional and developmental disabilities in their community and homes. An essential element of this job is to convey steady encouragement to ensure the growth of skills needed for daily living; this includes establishing high-quality relationships. DSP’s promote healthy living, healthcare management, and natural supports. Staff develop skills and abilities to remain calm during demanding situations, while ensuring the maintenance of a healthy and safe home environment.
NOTE:
This is also a perfect position for college students seeking flexible schedules (per diem) while gaining hands on experience in all facets of the human service industry. Essential Job Functions Follow all plans of care, report concerns to nurse or management, while attending to the individual’s well-being. Ensure proper administration of medications and treatments including documentation per policy. Provide assistance and informed decision making to enable individuals to accomplish activities of daily living (ADL) including: personal care and hygiene, dietary needs and mealtime preparation, household tasks, health issues and appointments, errands and grocery shopping, community activities and relationship facilitation. Maintain a positive, productive team environment with all relationships including individuals, families, management and employees of the agency, as well as community associations. Ability to objectively monitor and accurately document the status of the individuals supported. Successfully complete required trainings. Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings deemed essential. Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Minimum Requirements A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Reliable transportation to work. Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs. with assistance or use of barrier-free lifting device. Bend/squat, push/pull or kneeling without limitation. What we offer you

Pay Rate:
