PCA Personal Care Assistant Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville 80 Medical Center Drive, Woodruff, SC 29388 Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including clinics, hospitals, and teaching hospitals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatrics, emergency medicine, and inpatient care, particularly within Level I and Level II Trauma Centers. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients while assisting them with daily activities. Duties Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, and daily living activities. Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and reporting any changes to nursing staff. Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment. Help with mobility assistance, including transferring patients to and from beds or wheelchairs. Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas to ensure a safe environment. Collaborate with healthcare professionals in the delivery of care plans tailored to individual patient needs. Document patient care activities accurately and timely in compliance with healthcare regulations. Experience Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred. Familiarity with clinical settings such as geriatrics, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine is advantageous. Experience working in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers is a plus. Knowledge of inpatient care protocols and practices related to pediatric intensive care units (PICU) is desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a healthcare team are essential.
