Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Open Hands Doctors Family Practice 5 3rd Ave, Sumter, SC 29150 Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role requires a blend of personal care skills and interpersonal abilities to foster positive relationships with clients. Duties Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing. Provide meal preparation and ensure nutritional needs are met. Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition. Support individuals with memory care needs through engaging activities and reminders. Drive clients to appointments or social outings as needed. Offer direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence and dignity. Uphold resident rights by respecting privacy and confidentiality at all times. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring all equipment is in good working order. Skills Proficiency in first aid techniques and emergency response procedures. Experience in long-term care settings is preferred but not required. Strong meal preparation skills, with an understanding of dietary restrictions and preferences. Knowledge of medication administration protocols and safety practices. Ability to work effectively with individuals who have developmental disabilities, demonstrating patience and empathy. Excellent communication skills to interact positively with clients, families, and team members. Understanding of resident rights and commitment to advocating for client needs. Capability to assist clients physically while ensuring their comfort and dignity during all interactions.
