Direct Support Professional VBP Health LLC Hermitage, TN 37076 Job Overview As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, autism, and other special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including home community care, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. You will work closely with individuals to promote their independence, dignity, and personal growth while ensuring their safety and well-being. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the social well-being of clients. Implement individualized care plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Support clients in community integration through social activities and outings. Monitor and document client progress and any changes in behavior or health status. Advocate for resident rights and ensure a respectful environment that promotes dignity. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate care effectively. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients. Skills Experience in home community care or assisted living settings is preferred. Knowledge of social work principles and practices related to disability support. Proficiency in medication administration protocols and safety measures. Familiarity with dementia care techniques and strategies for working with individuals with cognitive impairments. Ability to work effectively with people with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. Strong communication skills to interact positively with clients, families, and team members. Basic cooking skills for meal preparation that accommodates dietary needs. Understanding of resident rights within various care environments such as nursing homes.
