Our goal is to teach, encourage, and support individuals with disabilities to live rewarding lives. Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with autism, helping them achieve their personal goals and maintain their independence. Your work will involve assisting with daily living activities, implementing care plans, transporting the persons supported, and fostering a positive environment. Responsibilities (these may vary based on assignment) Supervision of service recipients. Providing training in Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Documentation of services. Transportation Crisis Intervention Implementation of specialized plans of care. Maintaining the home and grounds in an acceptable manner. Support individuals to take on as much control as possible over the routines and activities in their home. Teach, assist and support individuals in the community and at home so that the individual is able to learn, practice and master skills that enable him/her to enhance his/her status by assuming socially valued roles. Support each individual’s existing relationships and increase their networks of friends and acquaintances. Oversight of health and welfare of the service recipient. Implement ISP action steps and staff instructions as written and at the frequency stated in the plan. Facilitate teamwork between all team members via open communication, sharing of responsibilities and a positive, constructive attitude. Follow all agency policies. Perform additional duties as required or directed. Qualifications Previous experience in home care, home health, or direct support is preferred but not required. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs. Familiarity with creating and following care plans is beneficial. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Certification in first aid and CPR is advantageous.
