Job Description

Community Assistant Merging Happiness & Inclusion Murfreesboro, TN 37129 Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Supports Assistant to provide support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in accessing and participating in community-based activities. The Community Supports Assistant will work closely with participants to promote independence, develop social skills, and enhance their overall quality of life. We are looking specifically for Tuesday and Thursdays from 9am-3pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist individuals with disabilities in identifying and pursuing their personal interests and goals. Provide support and encouragement to individuals as they participate in community activities, such as recreational events, social gatherings, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs. Facilitate social interactions and promote the development of meaningful relationships between individuals and community members. Provide transportation to and from community activities, as needed (valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required, or alternative arrangements can be discussed). Assist individuals with developing and practicing skills related to daily living, communication, and social interaction. Implement individualized support plans and behavior support plans, as directed. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of progress and activities. Communicate effectively with individuals, families, supervisors, and other team members. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to safety, confidentiality, and individual rights. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, as required. Provide personal care assistance as needed, which may include support with toileting, hygiene, and dressing (training will be provided). Adapt activities and communication methods to meet the diverse needs of individuals.

Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred). Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person! Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and implement support plans. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required, or the ability to utilize public transportation or other alternative transportation methods. Basic computer skills. Ability to lift and transfer individuals, if necessary (training will be provided on proper lifting techniques). Must be able to pass a background check.
