Specimen Collector 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars Fort Payne, AL 35968 Job Summary Core Diagnostic Laboratories is looking to hire an experienced and motivated Specimen Collector to be a part of our growing laboratory team! The main laboratory is located in Birmingham, AL. This collector position will be onsite at a client’s office in Fort Payne, AL. Employee will be responsible for the collection and preparation of all specimens for submission to the laboratory. Experience in specimen collection is a must. Must be comfortable handling biohazardous materials with provided PPE. Must have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately order all tests listed on the patient requisition form
- Collect patient samples required for the tests ordered
- Prepare samples for shipment to the laboratory
- Follow HIPPA regulations and Universal Precautions
- Communicate issues to management in a timely manner
Skills:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Efficient in computer operations
- Previous lab experience is preferred

$14.00 – $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Duties Collect urine specimens and capillary sticks as needed in accordance to safety and compliance regulations. Ensure proper identification of patients and specimens to maintain accuracy in testing. Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection. Document all collected specimens accurately and maintain comprehensive records. Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient processing of specimens. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working in a clinical environment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the specimen collection area. Qualifications Knowledge of medical terminology is essential. Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred. Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control practices. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment. Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
