Medical Laboratory Technician Russellville Hospital 15155 U.S. Highway 43, Russellville, AL 35653 Company Overview Russellville Hospital is a non-profit acute care facility with 49 beds, dedicated to serving northwest Alabama. It holds full accreditation from The Joint Commission. The hospital offers a wide range of services, including a 24-hour Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit/Cardiac Care Unit, Respiratory Therapy, as well as inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and treatment services. Other services include Rehabilitation Services, Cardiac Catheterization, Ambulatory Surgery, Laboratory services, and Home Health. The medical staff provides expertise in various areas, such as Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Gynecology, Orthopedics, Pathology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Radiology, and Urology. Additionally, the hospital functions as an educational clinic for nursing, laboratory, and radiology students from the local area. Nestled in Franklin County in northwest Alabama, the city of Russellville boasts tree-lined streets, charming homes, and a welcoming small-town atmosphere. Summary We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Russellville Hospital. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring accurate laboratory testing and analysis, contributing directly to the quality of medical care provided to our rural communities. Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy procedures and blood sampling with precision and care. Utilize laboratory information management systems for data entry and tracking. Conduct various laboratory tests and analyses according to established protocols. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide accurate test results in a timely manner. Manage laboratory inventory and assist in maintaining quality control standards. Requirements Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent experience required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory techniques. Proficient in using laboratory information management systems and data management tools. Experience in blood banking and related procedures is preferred. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Education A BS or BA degree and graduation from a Medical Technology (MT/MLS) program accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), along with successful completion of a Board of Registry examination for certification that meets State, CLIA, and HCFA requirements. Alternatively, a BS or BA degree or equivalent, combined with one of the eligibility routes and successful completion of a Board of Registry examination for certification that satisfies State, CLIA, and HCFA criteria. Candidates may also qualify through the HEW proficiency examination or possess an associate degree with MLT certification and successful completion of either the AAB MT examination or AMT MT examination. Additionally, two years of U.S. military training in Medical Laboratory Technology or an associate degree with MLT certification plus two years of relevant experience are acceptable.
