The Tissue Recovery Technician is an integral role within the Tissue Work System, at Legacy of Hope (LoH). The Tissue Tissue Recovery Technician performs TWS administrative, operational, and recovery responsibilities in an expeditious, professional, and efficient manner. The Tissue Recovery Technician will perform, under supervision, the surgical recovery of human tissue (and biomedical specimens) for transplant, research, and education according to LoH’s policies and procedures and in compliance with the standards established by American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They will assist in the case logistics, acquisition and transport of the required surgical supplies, recovery site preparation, proper packaging and labeling of donor tissue, donor reconstruction, and documentation as instructed by the Recovery Team Lead. The TRT’s expected number of call days is between 11-15 days of call per month.
Additional non-surgical responsibilities include:
1.Completion of case documentation as assigned by TWS or quality assurance team members.
2.Performance of tasks and duties as assigned to maintain TWS vehicles, office, surgical quarantine and supply area as well as tissue recovery facility in constant state of operational and audit readiness.
3.Participation in meetings, LoH sponsored events.
4.Performs other administrative duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma with minimum one year’s experience related to mortuary sciences, anatomy and physiology, surgical technician, or other applicable medical/surgical knowledge. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic technique, human anatomy and physiology, and/or surgical instrumentation use and maintenance.

Preferred:

Associate’s degree or higher. Two years of experience within health care or mortuary science focus. Knowledge of tissue banking.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION
Required:

Reliable transportation and valid Alabama driver’s license and ability to be insured.

Preferred:

Certification in a medical or health related field.
