Job Description

This position is part of Amentum Space Exploration Department (ASED) support to the

NASA EM01

Materials and Processes Laboratory under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract to the

NASA MSFC

Engineering Directorate.

Responsibilities:
Laboratory Pressure Systems Support:

o Gather as-built pressure system component data including piping/tubing, flex lines, regulators, relief valves etc. including manufacturer, material (stainless steel, copper, rubber, polyurethane, etc.), pressure rating, piping/tubing outside diameter and inside diameter/wall thickness.o Document pressure systems data (building, room number, associated component identification tag, manufacturer, model number, size, pressure rating, etc.) in spreadsheets.o Gather/capture and archive manufacturer data sheets.o Help determine piping/tubing and flex line pressure ratings from manufacturers data.

Assist a more experienced technician fulfill building manager duties, help coordinate Laboratory safety review and requirements support activities and help coordinate Laboratory Facilities work.

The selected candidate works integrally with engineers/scientists and may be a highly specialized expert focused in a particular field such as electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, drafting, or assembly disciplines. This individual independently plans and accomplishes projects and studies of complex scope. This individual works hand-in-hand with the team in problem identification, resolution, and task completion.

Job Requirements:

Typically, educational requirement is a High School diploma or GED or equivalent; and at least 15 years of relevant previous experience and continuing education or an associates degree or equivalent and at least 10 years of relevant previous experience.

Qualifications:

The position requires familiarity with common laboratory safety practices and procedures, pressure systems hardware components, pressure system operation, and common safety strategies.

The position requires familiarity with the basic operation and installation requirements of Materials and Processes laboratory equipment: high temperature furnaces, vacuum systems, chemical analysis systems, electronic control/monitoring systems, composites processing equipment, additive manufacturing equipment, water chilling systems, exhaust systems and mechanical test equipment.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain permission to operate customer-owned vehicles in support of work activities. The selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance and successfully complete a company defensive driving training class.

Relevant candidate work experience will be evaluated against ESSCA contract engineering labor categories.
