General Description:

This entry level position performs pre-analytical laboratory work that assists in the diagnosis and treatment of OU Health patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsible for the receiving, processing and distribution of specimens for multiple laboratory sections including specimen transport Enters patient information and test orders into Electronic Health Record Operates laboratory equipment such as (but not limited to) scales, centrifuges and incubators Performs and documents proper maintenance of instrumentation and equipment following all safety and regulatory requirements Performs miscellaneous clerical duties such as answering the telephone, file and prepare records for filing Participates in continuing education, professional development and research activities to maintain competencies and promote continuous improvements in care and treatments Knowledge of computer data entry and keyboard skills Maintains clean work station Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

0-3 years of experience required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have skills and abilities to perform required laboratory procedures. Must be able to work as part of a team and follow instructions; must be able to consistently and dependably report to work as scheduled. Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and exercise sound judgment. Must be able to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations. Must possess ability to understand various operations, policies, and procedures. Ability to work and communicate with co-workers and other caregivers, and meet their needs in a professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative manner. Must display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards establishing priorities and completing assignments efficiently. Ability to work with minimum supervision and demonstrate attention to detail. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care within the laboratory.
