Job Description:

Performs qualitative and quantitative tests and examinationsusing automated instrumentation or manual methods using establishedprocedures. Performs established quality assurance procedures(quality control testing; instrument function checks andcalibrations); maintains appropriate documentation; investigatesand resolves deviations from expected performance. Assessesaccuracy and validity of obtained test results by applyingknowledge of relevant scientific principles; recognized changesthat are critical to patient care; identified probably causes forirregular and atypical findings. Maintains records of tests andexaminations and final results for all record functions andinquiries related to patient care. Troubleshoots instruments andresolves technical problems whenever possible; documents correctiveactions and reports problems to the department Supervisor orManager as appropriate. May assist in instructing students andlaboratory personnel in the principles and techniques of diagnostictests and examinations. Performs phlebotomy according toestablished protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. Performsorder entry and specimen receipt; provides customer service to allcustomers of the laboratory.
