OPS NextGen Lab Technician University of Florida – 4.2 Gainesville, FL Job Details Temporary | Full-time $16 – $17 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Laboratory experience High school diploma or GED Bachelor’s degree NextGen Communication skills Entry level Full Job Description This position is in the NextGen DNA Sequencing Core of the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research at the University of Florida, a highly functioning, team-oriented shared resource that provides NGS support for investigators across campus. The NextGen DNA Sequencing Lab OPS Technician will work under the supervision of the NGS core director and NGS lab manager to perform general lab procedures and duties including maintenance tasks associated with the organization and upkeep of the NGS lab, reagent and supply inventory, sample receipt and storage, sample QC, Illumina library construction, and proper documentation of lab work. This position is for a full-time lab technician. Performs QC of samples submitted to the NGS lab. This includes assessing the quantity and quality of materials as a way to determine suitability for Nextgen DNA sequencing procedures. Properly tracks samples and documents laboratory work. Construct Illumina libraries for sequencing on Illumina platforms. Performs maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep of the NGS lab such as the proper disposal of biohazard trash, receiving and storage of samples. Monitors supply of reagents and consumables and regularly updates inventories. Assists with the administrative duties necessary for proper handling of receipts and orders. Other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:
$16 – $17 per hour, commensurate with education and experience
