Job Description

TYME is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical Lab Technician based out of our Livonia, Michigan office. The successful candidate will provide support to TYME’s geotechnical engineers and project managers responsible for delivering geotechnical engineering projects to our clients. Responsibilities Perform a variety of standardized tests on soils and aggregates including Moisture Content, Atterberg Limits, Unconfined Compression, Sieve Analysis, etc. in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO specifications or other recognized standards. Prepare and catalog samples for testing. Review and understand testing standards, project specifications and general notes for assigned activities prior to performing duties. Data entry and preparation of test reports. Interact with Geotechnical Engineers and Project Managers to discuss testing procedures and review test results. Assist Geotechnical Engineers and Project Managers in obtaining samples from the field as necessary. Maintain laboratory equipment in good condition, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. Interact with Geotechnical Engineers and Project Managers to understand project requirements, discuss testing procedures and results, and provide recommendations for improvement. Required Qualifications Hold an associate’s degree and/or have at least 1 year of experience in the geotechnical testing, construction materials testing or the construction industry in general. Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background and motor vehicle record checks. Good verbal and written communication skills for working in a team environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask and have good organizational and prioritization of responsibilities skills to meet project deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
