Responsibilities
Independently sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals and grant commitments (e.g. assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.). Contributes to the planning, design and modification of studies and experiments in the research lab setting. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects, enters, summarizes, and analyzes data. May oversee and assist with the training of residents, fellows and temporary lab personnel in lab techniques. Works with minimal supervision and performs assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
The Senior Research Technologist will oversee the daily operations of a neuropathology research laboratory investigating the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and related disorders. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong experience in laboratory management, database management, and regulatory compliance. Bonus if experienced in simple histological techniques such as embedding, sectioning, and simple staining.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage laboratory operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining inventories, and ensuring equipment functionality. Maintain and manage laboratory databases, including simple tracking, reagent logs, and data organization to ensure research handling regulations. Ensure compliance with institutional and federal regulatory guidelines, including biosafety, chemical safety, and human tissue handling regulations. Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory protocols and workflows. Train and supervisor laboratory personnel, including research assistants, students, and new hires. Assist with grant management, including budgeting, progress reports, and coordination with administrative offices. Facilitate communication and collaboration with external vendors, technical support, and research partners. This is a full-time position in a dynamic neuropathology research environment. The Senior Research Technologist will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and compliance of the lab’s operations, supporting high-impacted research projects, and maintaining an organized, well-functioning workspace. Qualifications
Requires bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science with 4 years of research laboratory experience. Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other relevant science preferred.
