The Lead Lab Tech overseas and performs a variety of laboratory responsibilities in caring for our patients in a one-of-a-kind, free-standing outpatient facilities, providing easy access unscheduled care. This hyper-efficient delivery of Emergency Medicine Specialty Services combined with outpatient facility efficiently provides high quality care that can yield lower ER visits, lower hospital admissions and create savings.

Description of Essential Duties:

The Lead Lab Tech provides oversight and training to MT/MLT’s in the performance of lab responsibilities. In addition, the Lead Lab Tech will perform all responsibilities of the Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician job description including: Must be able to complete orders on a variety of patients from minor treatment to acutely ill Must exhibit excellent phone etiquette when returning calls to patients (i.e. lab results, answering questions, etc.) and community partners Participate in QA activities as assigned by the Lab Supervisor/Lead Tech or FL (PT, QC, machine maintenance, etc.) Proficiently operate lab analyzers Produce quality lab results ensuring to address any QC errors or equipment malfunctions per protocol Prepare specimens for transport to reference labs Successfully pass lab specific competencies Function in a manner that supports the facility in meeting or exceeding goals set forth in the quality metrics (Door to EKG, Troponin TAT, Door to Antibiotic, Etc.) Support the Facility Leader (FL) and Lab Supervisor/Lead Tech by being a positive team player. Complete daily checklists Participate in morning huddles when on shift Accurate completion of lab/reagent inventory as assigned Participate in facility specific education and training (i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission, etc.) Utilize organizational specific software to reference old patient records and organizational protocols Follow the information security policies and management system, contributing to their effectiveness, and actively reporting on their performance

Minimum of an Associate’s degree in laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or equivalent education and training A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory, chemical or biological science preferred Minimum of three years of experience working as a generalist technologist or technician Previous lead, supervisory and/or training experience strongly preferred Must hold an active Florida Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician license with one of the following certifications:

ASCP ASCP AMT AAB

Able to stand and work up to a 12 hour “shift” in the facility. Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug test Great communication skills (including the ability to proficiently read, write and speak English) Must have active BLS certification or complete course within 90 days of hire Able to perform the duties expected for an active role in a busy medical environment Able to stand and work up to a 12-hour shift in the facility Ability to travel between local facilities (50-mile radius) in order to cover shifts
