The Program Dean is responsible for supervising and assisting students in a classroom and clinical setting according to the program objectives.
Job Description Position:
Program Dean Reports to: Campus Director Responsibilities and Duties .
- Teach and assign courses and act as a substitute instructor as needed
- Oversee the design, development, revision and assessment of curricula, including course objectives, instructional methods, learning outcomes, projects and assessment measures.
- Recommend program equipment, supplies, library materials, textbooks and other items for purchase and use; monitor the safety and quality of instructional materials
- Manage special projects as assigned by the Campus President.
- Actively engage in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress
- Assist students with course registration and academic advice
- Mentor instructors on effective academic counseling techniques
- Assist clinical coordinator with the establishment and coordination of externship sites on a weekly basis; perform clinical evaluation to show the specific site meets the requirements of our accreditation and the availability within each site.
- Identify and refer at-risk students to specific academic support services
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
Qualifications and Skills Job Requirements:
The Full-time Program Director:
- Holds, at a minimum, a baccalaureate degree. Master’s degree preferred.
- Preferred to be proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising,
- Documents five years of practical laboratory experience
- Holds a credential from a nationally recognized and accredited agency as a medical technologist or a clinical laboratory scientist.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation & communication skills required.
- Ability to utilize different methods and mediums of delivering course material.
- Experience in organizing and writing reports and presentations of a technical nature.
- Proven educational or administrative experience in critical thinking, problem solving and judgment skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, the Internet, and management system software.
