Role Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing testing in accordance with establishedStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applicable sections of theCode of Federal Regulations (CFRs), with emphasis on GoodManufacturing Practices (GMPs), the Clinical Laboratory ImprovementAct of 1988 (CLIA), and applicable Takeda and BioLife policies,procedures and quality initiatives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform onlyhigh and moderate complexity tests for which certification has beenauthorized by the laboratory director or designee and deemedcommensurate with their education, training, and technicalabilities. Responsible for sample management, test performance,quality control, result review, result reporting and equipmentmaintenance such that accurate and appropriate sample testing isperformed, completed, and reported in a timely manner. Follow thelaboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, testanalyses, reporting and maintaining records of donor test results.
Test and maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testingsamples are tested in the same manner as donor samples. Adhere tothe laboratory’s quality control policies, document all qualitycontrol activities, instrument and procedural calibrations andmaintenance performed. Identify problems that may adversely affecttest performance or reporting of test results and either correctthe problems or immediately notify the laboratory management.
Follow the laboratory’s established corrective action policies andprocedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’sestablished acceptable levels of performance. Document allcorrective actions taken when test systems deviate from thelaboratories established performance specifications. Participate inoperational excellence initiatives and projects to drive a cultureof continuous improvement to achieve site operational excellencegoals (including but not limited to 5S, Value Stream Mapping andKaizen). Other duties as assigned . Complexity Ability tostand up for 6-8 hours Ability to lift, carry and pull up totwenty-five (25) pounds Potential exposure to blood borne pathogensrequires 90% of work tasks to be performed while wearing gloves
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in abiomedical discipline (Chemical, physical, biological, clinical labscience, or medical technology,) OR Associate degree from anaccredited college/university in laboratory science or medicallaboratory technology
Desired:
Bachelor’s degree in medicaltechnology or Associates degree in medical laboratory technology1-year laboratory training or work experience preferred MT or MLTcertification from ASCP or other accredited certifying organizationpreferred BioLife Compensation and Benefits Summary We understandcompensation is an important factor as you consider the next stepin your career.
