Months Position Summary:
This role supports biological, chemical, and physical testing on pharmaceutical products—including biologics and drugs—across all stages of the manufacturing process, from incoming raw materials to final product release. This position ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and internal quality standards through precise analytical testing and robust documentation practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform testing using USP and EP compendial methods and requirements.
Execute critical biological, chemical, and physical analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to support manufacturing production schedules.
Accurately document and review test data in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Enter final test results into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other computerized systems.
Conduct complex assays and testing procedures requiring strong analytical and scientific skills.
Complete routine and special project/protocol testing in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with SOPs, product specifications, FDA regulations, GLP, QSR, and cGMP standards.
Investigate deviations and write exception or investigation reports.
Participate in team activities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall product quality.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in manual and instrumentation-based analytical methods.
Expertise in wet chemistry and instrumental analysis techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC).
Working knowledge of laboratory software such as Empower, TrackWise, and MiniTab (preferred).
Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to train team members.
Familiarity with chemical and biological safety procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of SOP compliance and data integrity.
Ability to recognize deviations from standard procedures and initiate corrective actions.
General Laboratory Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory space and equipment.
Operate and clean laboratory glassware and preparation systems (e.g., QC glasswashers).
Stock and maintain inventory of laboratory consumables.
Perform routine monitoring and cleaning of temperature-controlled storage units.
Conduct non-batch release testing, including raw materials and cleaning validation.
Assist with data filing, archiving, and report/investigation documentation.
Dispose of laboratory waste according to safety protocols.
Receive and log samples into physical logs, LIMS, EBM, and/or JDE systems.
Support stability study sample pulls and initiation procedures.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 25 lbs.
Will be required to work with chemicals (e.g., alcohols, acids, buffers); respiratory protection may be necessary.
Must be flexible to work off-shift hours or different shifts as business needs dictate.
Ability to work in confined spaces, cleanroom environments, and temperature-variable conditions.
