Quality Control Lab Technician Position Available In Washington, Georgia

Thiele Kaolin Company 520 Kaolin Road Sandersville, Georgia 31082 478-552-3951 Employment Opportunity Quality Control Lab Technician Thiele Kaolin Company, a leading provider of tailored mineral solutions, is currently recruiting for a Quality Control Lab Technician. This position is located in Sandersville, Georgia.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsibilities include testing and monitoring various processes including classifying (centrifuges and Denver mills), magnetic separators, floc and leach, calciners, and calciner product mills ensuring clay grades are within specification making adjustments as necessary to maintain product specification. Responsible for final inspection of all shipments. Responsible for coordinating with production to assure that all shipments have been tested and released properly. Perform calibration of equipment as needed.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Duties include performing all necessary testing on both in process clays and final products to ensure quality is acceptable and within internal and customer specifications.
• The technician will be required to perform or assist in sample analysis including but not limited to % residue, pH, viscosity, % moisture, brightness, color, % solids, particle size, bacteria testing, loss on ignition, abrasion, and hard particle determination.
• The technician is required to enter test results into computer databases and release product for shipping.
• Job requirements may include other lab functions related to production support such as plant trials and process improvement projects.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Good attendance and safety record.
• Well motivated with a strong desire to learn and a willingness to attend any training that may be required to learn the necessary job skills.
• Ability to organize and work independently or with a minimal amount of supervision.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to become familiar with process targets, product specifications, and processing methods for various clay grades.
• Generally familiar with plant and mine production systems.
• Ability to communicate well through written and oral reporting.
• Demonstrated personal computer skills.
• Willing to work rotating shifts for the foreseeable future.
• Good scientific (preferred but not required) and mathematical ability and background.
• Familiarity with lab procedures and techniques (preferred but not required).
• Knowledge of basic statistical process control techniques (preferred but not required).
