- Thisjob receives and prepares specimens according to standard protocolsand procedures; performs analytical laboratory tests andcalculations according to section requirements and protocols;performs quality control procedures required for test performance;calibrates, maintains and monitors laboratory equipment; worksunder general supervision; position minimally requires telephoneaccess to a Medical Technologist when troubleshooting problems;performs phlebotomy procedures as appropriate; and maintainsconfidentiality of patient related information.

- Current license in the state of practice (ifapplicable).Required
- ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as MedicalLab Technician. Any incumbents certified by ASCP on or afterJanuary 1, 2004 must successfully complete the requirements of theASCP’s Certification Maintenance Program.
- -Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entryand retrieval of information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and theability to present information clearly and professionally. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, varioussoftware packages specific to role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills.
Job Duties Performs specimen testing. Ensures quality performance. Adheres to regulatory compliance guidelines. Maintains competency. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, includingbut not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction tothe patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style. Other related duties as required.
