Lab TechnicianJob Description Join a dynamic team dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge in a food chemistry lab. As a Lab Technician, you will play a pivotal role in supporting chemists and conducting various tests including proximate, protein, fat, moisture, extraction, and centrifuging processes. You will also be responsible for creating reagents and solutions, ensuring accurate sample preparation and testing. Responsibilities + Work through backlog by sorting through lists of samples. + Support chemists in various testing processes. + Conduct proximate, protein, fat, moisture testing. + Perform extraction and centrifuging operations. + Create reagents and solutions for testing. Essential Skills + Experience in a production environment. + Strong decision-making skills. + Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS). + Detail-oriented approach. + Ability to prepare samples accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Physics. + Proven ability to follow standard operating procedures and apply critical thinking. + Ability to multitask effectively. Work Environment Work in a food chemistry lab within the Industrial Contaminants Department, testing for pesticides, contamination, and quality of goods both imported and exported. Training schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for approximately two weeks, with a flexible schedule post-training, potentially 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 – $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
