This position will c onduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for research and development of new products or processes, quality control, maintenance of environmental standards, and other work involving experimental, theoretical, or practical application of chemistry and related sciences.

Functional Requirements:

Perform QC laboratory chemical analysis to support production units. This includes analysis of process intermediates, pesticide active ingredients, agricultural formulations, raw materials, residual impurities, and environmental products. The test methods, in most part, are established and routine. Report results to production units from which the samples originated. Follows all procedures and requirements to ensure full compliance with the site Quality Management System, and Syngenta manufacturing and quality control specifications. Shift work is required, which includes weekends and holidays. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Qualification Standards:

Minimum four-year college degree with science major (chemistry degree desired), or high school diploma with minimum of 5 years industrial QC laboratory experience and knowledge of instrumentation. Analytical procedures (SOPs), operation and troubleshooting laboratory instruments and equipment (GC, HPLC, viscometer, densitometer, particle size analyzer, pH meter, titration), good housekeeping and laboratory practices, QA/QC procedures, SPC, and computer operation. Laboratory equipment operation and instrumentation troubleshooting skills, project planning, proper documentation, effective communication, basic math, use of Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of GC and HPLC instruments, using Chromeleon and Sample Manager (LIMs) software are a plus May be required to have working knowledge of desktop computer software for the development and use of spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and databases Must possess excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational, judgment and decision making, and complex problem solving skills Post offer drug screen and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Group, LLC. Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing / data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment Turner Industries is an equal employment opportunity employer.
