Summary:
- This position must meet the requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) 42 CFR § 493.
1489 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications. This position will perform viral pathogen testing on wastewater samples using the Thermo Fisher Kingfisher Flex extraction platform and the Qiagen Qiacuity digital droplet thermocycler. This work is conducted in biosafety level 2 and 3 laboratories. All duties are conducted at the Department’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory, located in Augusta, Maine.
Hours of Operations:
Monday through Friday, five (5) days a week, normal work hours such as 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Qualifications include at a minimum:
- Four (4) year combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates knowledge of medical or environmental technology and/or analytical chemistry and laboratory equipment, testing, and techniques, including: i.
Experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities related to: 1)PCR, real-time PCR 2) Nucleic acid extraction 3) Must meet the requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) 4) 2 CFR § 493.1489 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications.
- Training, education, or experience in laboratory work that demonstrates:
- 1)Excellent interpersonal skills and critical thinking. 2)Excellent communication skills. 3)Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. 4)Ability to speak, read, and write English. 5)Ability to independently follow scientific protocols.
