Additional Information About the Role Barnes-Jewish St. Peter’s Hospital has a full-time Lab Associate II opportunity. Assist the technologists in receiving, processing, aliquoting samples to send out to other facilities for testing, distributing samples to their designated areas in a core lab. Answer phone calls from other departments and work to resolve interdepartmental questions. Nights – Four 10 hour night shifts per week, alternating every other weekend (Fri/Sat) Sign-on Bonus Annual Raises Overview Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation. At Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Laboratory Departments provides inpatient and outpatient services. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Perform specimen collection, specimen handling and clerical duties. Experienced in phlebotomy and proficient in performing additional tasks such as central processing duties, in-office phlebotomy, or inventory management. Responsibilities Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system. Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity. May work in outpatient lab, in physician office, or off campus patient service center. Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and proficiently handle all specimens received in the lab. Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times. May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED Experience
