Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED in addition to one of the following: Degree in exercise science(2) years of experience working in a clinical setting with a focus on patient mobility.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesUnderstanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology Takes initiative to complete work, and meets productivity standards. Customer service skills. Follow directions as communicated in a variety of ways. Knowledge of Infection Control and Injury Prevention theories and strategies Learns quickly and through multiple channels. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing Basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Responsibilities:

 Spends day on assigned nursing unitCommunicates with nursing prior to seeing each patient, to obtain updated patient status.

Transports patients for hospital discharge and assists with vehicle transfers as needed.

Rounds {will triage rounding importance based on nursing communication)Boost or reposition patient in bedAssist with BSC transfers or walk to bathroomMobilizes patients based on BMAT levelGets patients up for meals and throughout the dayAssist patient to the chair and back to bed as appropriateWalks patient in hall as appropriateProvides feedback to nursing on unidentified fall precaution needs and skin integrity, LDA issues, patient concerns, etcFor patients with both therapy and mobility program orders, mobility tech communicates with OT/PT to determine any specific mobility needs.

Develop as a resource for patient mobility, serving as a mentor to floor staff in environmental set up, the use of d vices, mobility techniques and body mechanics to safely promote the highest level of patient mobility.

Assists nursing, as requested, for patients with in-bed positioning needs.

Builds a trusting relationship with the patient.

Provide dear and effective patient communication about the importance of mobility, vertical positioning, falls risks and out of bed activity as appropriateIncreases patient morale and patient satisfaction through daily encouragement and increased autonomyDocuments each session in EPICThe duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
