About The Outer Banks Hospital The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospitaloffering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastalcommunity, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includesfour ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with adedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapycenter, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a24-hour emergency department. Position Summary The Medical Laboratory Technician performs clinical laboratorytests by standard operating policies and procedures. Understandsmethod principles, performs quality control & calibrations,performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as toaccuracy, acceptability and critical limits. As a MLT, you will: Prepare patient specimens as required for laboratory testing andperform laboratory tests specific to department Monitor test results to assure test quality and validity Communicate test results in a timely manner Enter and retrieve data from laboratory computer systems Assist in orientation or training of new or less experiencedemployees or students Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment Demonstrate appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace, treatingpatients, their families, visitors and staff with respect anddignity Works alternate shifts as required Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to,phlebotomy Minimum Requirements Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or currentlyenrolled in an accredited Clinical Laboratory Science Program (BS)and have completed the specific laboratory rotation (e.g.

Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Services).Equivalent laboratory training and/or work experience with the USmilitary (2 years) will meet the education requirement.

Preferred:
