Accessioner I Job Description The main function of an Accessioner I is to process laboratory samples efficiently and accurately. Working collaboratively with other laboratory employees, the role involves cataloging patient specimens such as blood, urine, or tissue for further analysis. Responsibilities Receive and triage all specimens for clinical testing. Manage clinical information within the LIMS database. Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory for accurate processing. Open specimens and transfer them into secondary containers for analysis and testing. Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted. Enter patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes. Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results. Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas. Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required. Prepare and store excess specimen samples properly. Resolve and document any problem specimens. Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste appropriately. Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
